Silicone wire is becoming more and more popular in the fields of electronics, automobiles, industrial control, ships, lighting because of its soft and excellent resistance to high and low temperatures, high voltage and solvent.
Cold hardness of silicone:
Silicone rubber insulation of silicone wire has helical molecular structure and excellent flexibility. Polysiloxane has low glass transition temperature and brittle temperature. It has a lower brittle point than natural rubber or other synthetic rubber: ordinary silicone has a brittle point of -30 - 20 C, and the brittle point of silicone rubber is the lowest of all rubber, so it has inherent low temperature elasticity.Generally speaking, the brittle point of universal silicone rubber is between -60 and -50 C, the modified product can withstand -80 C, and the brittle point of special formula can reach -115 C.The cold resistance and low temperature elasticity of silicone rubber are not improved by adding plasticizers, but by changing the molecular structure of polysiloxane. The low temperature elasticity of silicone rubber can be improved by adding a small amount of phenyl (Ph) into the polymer molecule. The glass transition temperature of the low phenyl silicone rubber is -120 C. The vulcanizates of the low phenyl silicone rubber still have good elasticity at -100 ~70 C and can keep elasticity at -90 C.
